My Story

My story begins with me going to the doctor for a check-up about two years ago.  My blood test came back as being pre-diabetic.   Upon hearing this, I instantly thought since both my parents have diabetes I have a predisposition to getting it as well.  I was about 16-20 lbs overweight and had very poor eating habits.  I was heading in the direction my parents were in which was a poor bill of health.  I knew immediately something had to change.  It started with exercising more, but you cannot exercise your way to being healthy and continue to eat poorly. This is like me going to the gym, hopping on a treadmill while eating a crispy cream doughnut.  It’s counter-intuitive, and Its just not going to work.

I decided to make some changes in my eating habits. I started with eating less meat and more vegetables at first, in addition to removing all the bad snacks, like cookies, chips cakes etc… It’s just not going to work.

Like most, after watching the What the Health documentary I was convinced I needed do something about more about my poor eating habits.  I began to reduce my meat intake to once a month and ate more fruits and vegetables, in addition to a daily exercise routine.  The lbs began to melt off and I started feeling better.

One of the things I did notice was that every time I ate animal protein, I would get sick.  When I stopped consuming as much processed foods my body knew something was wrong.  My body was rejecting the animal protein because I stopped eating so much of it.

We were not the typical family that would go the local grocery store to pick cheap food.  Our meat was grass-fed beef and organic chicken.  The dairy was raw milk, which came from a local farmer.  We actually took it a step further and moved to a farm-house, and began to raise our own animals (goats and chickens).  We even went as far as raising and processing our own chickens and milking our goats. We were living off the land and eating well.  However, something still was not quite right.  Although not as much, we were still experiencing issues like inflammation, fatigue, and other symptoms as well.

We finally made the decision to go Vegan all the way,  sold the animals and moved to the city, and decided to go Vegan.  Since this changes, I went back to my doctor and he was quite impressed with the changes that I’ve made.  I am continuing to track my progress and seeking to help others as well.  I have not arrived, but I can say that I do feel better and want to be an encouragement to others to press your way to good health by choosing the proper nutrients that will make a difference in the long run.

I always sign off by saying.

Be encouraged as you encourage others…
